Creating Line Items

Step 1: Create the new line item

From within the desired event, click the Lots tab, then select a lot from the list. On this screen, click the New Item button on the right.

Step 2: Complete the form

From this screen, you'll complete all the required fields to create the line item.

Base Line Item Settings

  • Name: Name of the line item; this is the name shown in the bidder interface.
  • Lot: Use this dropdown to select the lot in which the line item will be placed.
  • Sort By: Items will be sorted by the numeric value in this field. Must be a whole number. Defaults to zero if not provided.
  • Number: Item number for the line item. Can be SKU, RFP item number, etc.
  • Quantity: Quantity associated line item, specified with unit of measure; i.e. 10/gallons where 10 is the quantity and gallons is the unit of measure.
  • Unit of Measure: Unit of measure.
  • Description: Description of the line item (can be multiple lines), using Textile formatting.

Bid Settings

  • Validate:
    • Bid required: Check this box to require that bidders submit a price for this line item. Note that once a bidder has submitted an initial price, they are not required to enter a value every time.
    • Ties allowed: Check this box to allow tie bids. Note that bidders will never see a tied rank. In a tie scenario, preference is given to the first bidder to reach a specific price point.
  • Precision: The number of decimal places (2 to 4) allows in price submissions.
  • Decrement: Amount by which bidders must change their bid in order for it to be accepted.
  • Opening (optional): The maximum bid value that will be accepted for a line item. Can be hidden in bidder interface using the provided checkbox. If not provided, bidders can enter any value.

Evaluative Settings

  • Baseline (optional): The amount used to benchmark savings; specified in unit price, not extended price. If not provided, savings will not be calculated.
  • Extended Quantity: Extended quantity. The bidder's price submission will be multiplied by this value to calculate the extended bid price.
  • Weight Type (optional): Specifies the type of weighting to be used. Can be hidden in bidder interface using the provided checkbox. If not provided, no weighting will be calculated.
    • Adjustment Only: Weighting values will be specified as adjustments only.
    • Percentage: Weighting values will include a percentage weighting, and an optional adjustment.
    • Markup: Bids will be accepted in markup format, with an optional adjustment.
  • Reserve (optional): Reserve amount is the price at which you reserve the right to accept the pricing offered. Can be hidden in bidder interface using the provided checkbox.

Step 3: Save the lot

When you are satisfied with your configuration, click the Save button.
